After four daughters, my husband finally got the son he’d been begging for — but when he held our newborn boy for the first time, his words made my stomach drop.

Aaron and I had been together for eight years, and from the beginning, we both knew we wanted a big family.

But Aaron had always been strangely fixated on having a son. Even before we were married, he’d talk about how a family full of daughters simply wouldn’t feel complete to him. He wanted a boy more than anything — someone who would carry on his name and finally give him the family he’d always imagined.

Soon after our wedding, I found out I was pregnant. Aaron was thrilled and immediately became convinced we were having the son he’d always wanted.

“”We’ll give her a little brother someday,”” he told me.

And we tried again.

Then I became pregnant for the fifth time.

From the moment I showed him the test, Aaron was almost certain.

“”I can feel it,”” he kept saying. “”This time, it’s finally my son.””

And he was right.

Months later, after a long delivery, the doctor announced that our healthy baby boy had arrived.

Aaron looked happier than I’d ever seen him.

The nurse placed our son in his arms, and I expected tears, laughter, maybe even a relieved “”finally.””

Instead, Aaron studied the baby’s face, and slowly, all that excitement disappeared.

Then he looked at me, opened his mouth, and the words that followed made my stomach drop. READ THE REST OF THE STORY IN THE COMMENT
